Residents of Ross are mainly educated professionals and artists. A small unassuming and unincorporated area, it is surrounded by Kentfield, Larkspur, Greenbrae, San Anselmo, and close to Phoenix Lake. In 1857, James Ross set up a trading post called Ross Landing. The town of Ross today is made up of what remains of the original area.
